If a piece of your pair is already in a slot (its own or another one), you have to take it out. Hold that slot front-right and do a basic insert, for example R U R': the piece comes back up on top.
Pick your moment: do U before taking the piece out so the other piece of the pair isn’t right above it. Otherwise you break them both.
If the edge is already correctly placed, no need to take it out: some cases move only the corner, like “Edge already in place”.
Remember: A piece in the wrong slot is never a big deal: 3 moves bring it back up.
The cases
- Edge already in place: R U R' U' R U R' U' R U R'. Edge correctly placed in its slot, corner white facing up.
Troubleshooting
- Taking a piece out, I broke another one I’d already done
- You took the piece out through a slot that was already solved. Always hold the slot you’re emptying front-right before doing R U R'.
